Before Your First Visit

Cut out the wait by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:

  • Completed patient information and health history forms
  • A list of medications you are presently taking
  • If you have dental/orthodontic insurance, bring your insurance information and identification card. This will save time and allow us to help process any claims.

Please let us know if you have a medical condition that may be of concern (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.)

Initial Consultation

During your free consultation, we’ll:

  • Take two X-rays of your current bite
  • Perform a comprehensive oral examination
  • Discuss your potential treatment options

This is a great time to get a sense of how you or your child’s orthodontic treatment will go moving forward.

Moving Forward

If treatment is right for you, we’ll schedule you for diagnostic records. These records usually consist of study models and diagnostic photographs.

Diagnostic records help us narrow in on the perfect treatment plan for you and your smile goals.

What to Expect After Your First Visit

Following your initial consultation, you'll have periodic adjustment appointments to monitor your progress. It's also important to understand how long your treatment may last and to keep up with your regular dental visits for optimal results.

Adjustment Appointments

Periodic visits are a crucial part of orthodontic treatment. Typically, we will see you every 4 – 6 weeks to check your progress and make necessary adjustments to your braces. Keeping these appointments ensures that your treatment stays on schedule.

Keeping Up With Your Dentist

Before starting orthodontic treatment, your family dentist should ensure all cavities are treated and your gums are healthy. Once your braces are in place, it's essential to brush and floss regularly and continue your scheduled 6-month dental cleanings.

Regular dental care helps maintain oral health and supports your orthodontic treatment.

How Long Treatment Lasts

The duration of your braces treatment can range from 6 months to 30 months or longer, depending on your age, the severity of your orthodontic issues, and your cooperation during treatment. Dr. Pavlik will provide a personalized estimate based on your unique needs.
